• You can download QT 7 from the Apple site (http://store.apple.com/us/product/D3380Z/A) - it's like $30 for the QT pro. If you installed SL over top of 10.5 QT 7 will have been moved to your utilities folder. Still works. You have to change preferences for each file type if you want them to open with QT7 on double click. QT X is not all that bad when you get used to it - there is a fair amount of functionality but, you know, if you're used to doing something one way (FH) it's a bitch when you're forced to do things another way (AI). No, I definitely installed QT7 on my Macbook that I just bought without having to uninstall QT10. I did have a little issue getting my serial number in for PRO, that I don't recall how I resolved. Make sure QT7 is not in your utilities folder. mookie commented 4 months ago | Report moderator thanks for the advice. I checked apps and utilities and it's not there. I migrated from an older Mac during setup, but SL was already installed on this iMac when I got it. Hence, I have no install disk. I did find the QT 7 installer on the Apple site but I get this error message when I attempt an install (and the advice it offers doesn't provide a fix.): "QuickTime can't be installed on this disk. This version of Quicktime 7 can't be installed on this disk because QuickTime X is already present. Please use Software Update to install the appropriate version of QuickTime for your Mac." Weird. Lame. I'll keep trying things. I'd uninstall QuickTime X to get it out of the way of my install, but I've read that just trashing the app doesn't suffice--and I'm not sure what other files I might need to hunt down. thanks anyway.... • hey jabez i empathise. i had the same problem with QTX. i needed to export using additional settings that it no longer supports. fortunately, i still had QT7 Pro on my machine after i installed SL as a system upgrade (instead of as a clean install - i guess it has its bonuses), so i use QT7 Pro if i need more advanced editing options. i know Apple recommend this (silly, i know) but i don't know why X doesn't come with more 'working parts'. have you tried this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3678 does that work for you? eddie deighton answered in HELP 4 months ago | Report 0 0 2 comments by Jabez Palmer and Jabez Palmer… moderator thanks for the advice.
